video-icon.pngDo you always have access to the internet in your classroom? Most people don't or aren't willing to base an entire lesson around being able to get to a particular website.

Would you like to use a video you find on the internet in the classroom, but aren't able to get to YouTube or similar places because it is blocked by your school? There's a way.

There are a couple of ideas I'll show you, and you can decide which one best suits your needs and likes.

YouTube Downloader can be downloaded by clicking on the link or the image. Don't let the name fool you. With this FREE software, you can download videos from YouTube, as well as other sites with video on them. See the video below for how to download and install the program. You'll need Real Player to view the video, which is in .mp4 format. Most computers have Real Player already installed on them.

Fast_Video.pngThis is another video downloader, but this isn't a software you download to your computer. You get this program as an Add-On to Firefox. I've posted a video below to show you how to download the Add-On. You'll need to have Firefox as your webbrowser before you can get it.
I couldn't get the bottom right hand corner of the screen to record, but here is what the icon should look like on your screen.FVD.pngThe FVD icon is blue when there is not a video on the website you're visiting.

FVD2.png The FVD icon is yellow when there is a video on the website you're visiting.

FVD3.pngWhen you click on the yellow FVD icon, these options will pop up. I tell you in the video why I think the .mp4 is the best video format for you to choose.

zamzar.com.jpgZAMZAR is a file converter. The way it works is you upload the file to be converted, and then they convert it and email you the converted file. You can upload pictures, videos, documents, PDFs, etc.
One of the most exciting things about this file converter is you can convert PDF's to Word Documents. There have been many times I wanted to use a PDF, but didn't have the capability to adapt it to my needs. This online application allows you to do this.
At one time it could take up to 24 hours to receive your converted file by email. They have since upped their time and you should receive your converted file within an hour. This is the option for those who really don't want to download more software or another program to convert files.
